Green CATCH Diversion vs. CATCH Control Switching:

When managing energy loads, it's important to understand the difference between Diversion and Switching, as each method serves a specific purpose in optimising energy use.
Diversion
How It Works:
Diversion efficiently detects and utilises small increments of surplus solar energy, redirecting them to the hot water tank. With Green CATCH, even as little as 500W can be diverted, regardless of the element size.
Key Advantage:
This is the most efficient method of hot water control, ensuring minimal energy wastage.
Use Case:
Perfect for smaller solar systems or sites with low export capabilities.
Limitation:
Diversion is not suitable for zero export sites, as it relies on detecting surplus energy.
CATCH Control
How It Works:
Switching operates by turning loads on or off based on predefined conditions, such as surplus solar availability, time of day, frequency, or voltage. For example, you can configure the system to activate a hot water element when the site is exporting at least 3.6kW.
Key Advantage:
Offers a versatile and reliable solution, integrating seamlessly with a range of Consumer Energy Resources (CER), including inverters, batteries, hot water systems, air conditioning, and EV chargers.
Use Case:
Best suited for larger solar systems above 6 kW's with high export limits and multiple controllable loads on-site.

Additionally, it supports Flexible Exports for jurisdictions requiring DNSP compliance, allowing you to manage inverters, loads, and DNSP requirements all in one device.
